Sugar Mountain
Do you think about how much sugar is in the foods you eat? Are you climbing a mountain of sugar excess? Would you sit and eat teaspoonfuls of sugar?
I bet you would really think about it before you ate sugar like that! If you knew the amount of sugar in some of the things you consume daily you might really think about it before you decide to eat or drink them.
Sugar in Coke
Did you know a 12 oz can of Coke has 39 grams of sugar?
There is approximately 4.2 grams of sugar in a teaspoon. That means the can of Coke has close to 10 teaspoons of sugar in it!
If you looked at that in sugar cubes, you would have over 9 sugar cubes. Would you sit and eat 9 sugar cubes in one sitting.
Probably not! Yet you might think nothing of drinking it down in that Coke.
How about a Big Gulp? How many people do you see carrying around those large Cokes they pick up at the gas station? Those things have about 91 grams of sugar. Do the math! Here you are looking at around 22 teaspoons of sugar.
There are many items that are full of sugar. How about a 20 oz bottle of Minute Maid Lemonade? It contains 67 grams of sugar. Almost 16 teaspoons of sugar. Don't you just want to grab one up and swig it all down?
How About Some Sugar With Those Fries?
One Tablespoon of Catsup has about a teaspoon of sugar. How many Tablespoons do you use to dip your french fries or pour on a burger?
How about some sweet Barbecue Sauce?
How about some sugar for breakfast? Pour me a glass!
Some of the high sugar processed foods fall in the following categories: Packaged cereals, Applesauce, Canned Fruits, Salad Dressings, Instant Hot Cereals, Spaghetti Sauces, Juice and Fruit Drinks, Flavored Milks, Yogurts, and numerous other processed foods.
